A walk in town turns into a harrowing adventure for six little ducklings when they are swept up in a gush of water and washed down an open drain.
"Quack," says their Mother, to reassure her babies that they will be okay. The little ducks go and go, sailing through the sewer pipes as Mother chases them from drain to drain. She tries to keep the ducklings calm as they race through town, and eventually her soothing quacks attract the attention of a kindhearted man. The little ducks are saved!
Using a combination of full-page spreads and vignette-style drawings, McCully's adorable watercolors enhance a simple, repetitive text—perfect for beginning readers.
